... At least not a hit in America.
First, the original:
An 80's rock cover:
A Bananarama-wannabe cover:
A hopped-up house version (a minor hit in the U.S.):
A pretty cool cover by one of the biggest bands of the 80's:
Personally, I like the original and Def Leppard versions the best, but I didn't know there were SO many covers. Keep in mind that this is a song about appartheid (especially while you're watching the Chatahoochie version!)

Pete, I look forward to finding out what you are talking about and hearing the song (whatever it is!) once I get home. Web Weasel prevents me from hearing or even accessing YouTube from my work computer. I can't even see the YouTube screen - it shows up as a blank white screen. (Interestingly enough, the advertisement to the right of the screen shows up quite niocely, thank you! Seriously, I've always enjoyed listening to several versions of a song, and look forward to hearing these.

I have an mp3 of John Kongos' original, but had never heard the other versions. I agree that the original and the Def Leppard versions are the best, although I like the Party Boys version as well.

I also had no idea so many bands had covered this. I have the John Kongos version on CD (thank you, Rhino).
Of the covers, my favorites are Def Leppard and The Party Boys.
The "hopped up" house version is to busy, and the "Bananarama wannabe " version is terrible.

If I liked this song, I'd really despise the Chantoozies version, but I don't so it goes easiest on my ears.
Without your explanation, I'd have never known from any of the versions that it was a song about apartheid.
