Have you ever been pleasantly surprised to hear someone who's not known for their singing, doing it well?
The two examples I have both involve the Sonny & Cher show. Many moons ago(when TVLand was actually *good*), I taped one of their Christmas episodes. One of their guests was William Conrad, and during one sketch, he sang a carol(I want to say "O Come All Ye Faithful," but it's been so long I'm not entirely sure)in this wonderfully deep bass voice. Given his voiceover work through the years, I probably shouldn't have been surprised, but I was impressed.
Last week, while on YouTube, I happened to come upon a clip of Carroll O'Connor singing the closing theme to All In The Family, entitled "Remembering You," for which he also wrote the lyrics. IMHO, had he decided to pursue that as a career path, I think he could've done quite well.
Here's the O'Connor clip:

I hadn't known Carroll had written those lyrics. That's interesting! I agree about TVLand. Why is it that every retro-themed channel seems to go downhill after a while? It was a great channel in the beginning, but now it's just the same old shows shown over and over again.

Never knew there were lyrics to the All in the Family closing theme. That was a cool clip. As for the secondary part of the post, since I own an AARP card, I'm no longer considered retro. TVland, Nick at Night, and maybe even VH1 have not held up their end of the bargain. As with Oldies Radio, as they get older, their stuff gets newer.

That's pretty cool. He did have a pleasant voice. I guess the words were written for the music, not for the show.

Who KNEW Shatner could sing as good as his acting? It's hard to believe he was doing that seriously!

Who KNEW Shatner could sing as good as his acting? It's hard to believe he was doing that seriously! I know, but the alternative is he was giving a giant FU to all his fans.
