I didn't know where to post this topic, and please excuse if it has been covered in the past. This topic concerns albums (not greatest hits collections) that produced large numbers of hits. Ones that I can think of are the following:
**Van Halen "5150" (5 Hit Singles)
"Why Can't This Be Love", "Dreams", "Love Walks In", "Best of Both Worlds", "Summer Nights"
**Huey Lewis and the News "Sports" (6 Hit Singles) "The Heart of Rock and Roll". "Heart and Soul", "If This Is It", "Walking On a Thin Line", "I Want a New Drug", "Bad is Bad"
**Michael Jackson "Thriller" (7 Hit Singles) "Wanna Be Startin' Something", "The Girl is Mine", "Thriller", "Beat It", "Billie Jean", "Human Nature", "Pretty Young Thing"
My question is....how many albums can you come up with that contain large numbers of well known hit singles. What was the most ever on one album?

Good topic, Matt!
Bruce Springsteen's Born in the U.S.A. had 7 singles: Dancing in the Dark, Cover Me, I'm on Fire, Born in the U.S.A., Glory Days, I'm Goin' Down and My Hometown.
Michael Jackson's Bad had quite a few as well: I Just Can't Stop Loving You, Bad, The Way You Make Me Feel, Man in the Mirror, Dirty Diana, Another Part of Me and Smooth Criminal.

So, it may be a country album, but it seemed like Shania Twain's 1997 album "Come On Over" had every single one of its songs released at some point! I mean it! EVERY SONG!
"Love Gets Me Every Time" Released: September, 1997
"Don't Be Stupid (You Know I Love You)" Released: November, 1997
"You're Still the One" Released: February, 1998
"When" Released: June, 1998
"Honey I'm Home" Released: August, 1998
"From This Moment On" Released: September, 1998
"That Don't Impress Me Much" Released: December, 1998
"Man! I Feel Like a Woman!" Released: March, 1999
"You've Got a Way" Released: May, 1999
"Come On Over" Released: September, 1999
"Rock This Country!" Released: December, 1999
"I'm Holdin' On to Love (to Save My Life)" Released: July, 2000

Let's not forget Def Leppard's "Hysteria" Absolutely! Hysteria Pour Some Sugar On Me Love Bites Animal Armageddon It Rocket ***Great album! Anybody notice that most the albums listed above were all released between 1982 and 1987? Wonder if the creative juices were flowing between the artists themselves.

If you were an artist with a hit album from 1982-1988, you had a multi-platinum seller that would be on the in the top ten for a year. Here are few more I came up with.
Faith - George Michael (1987) Faith Father Figure One More Try Monkey Kissing A Fool The first four all hit #1!
Rhythm Nation 1814 - Janet Jackson (1989) Miss You Much Rhythm Nation Escapade Alright Come Back To Me Black Cat Love Will Never Do (Without You) The first CD to score seven top five singles. Four of these were #1's!
By the 1990's label's shied away from releasing multiple singles from CD's. As top 40 radio's popularity declined, and alternative became popular, this became less of the norm. However, I do find a few examples in the 90's.
Dangerous - Michael Jackson (1991) This one didn't have the sales of Thriller or Bad. During this time Michael got in trouble with sex abuse allegations. I should mention there were four top tens from this CD, but there were others that had a mediocre showing. Here's a list of the eight singles released and their chart positions.
Black or White #1 Remember the Time #3 In The Closet #6 Jam #26 Heal The World #27 Who Is It #14 Will You Be There #7 Gone Too Soon (never charted)
janet. - Janet Jackson (1993) One of last of the era. All six singles went top ten and two chart toppers.
That's The Way Love Goes #1 If #4 Again #1 Because of Love #10 Any Time Any Place #2 You Want This #8
I have been able to find at least one example this decade:
All The Wrong Reasons - Nickelback (2005) I've never liked this band. But this album was on the charts for a year and had at least five radio singles.

I was trying to come up with some '70s albums, but there really aren't many with more than three or four singles each.
The two that came to mind (other than Saturday Night Fever, which is more of a compilation/collection), were Rumours and Hotel California - but they were only four and three respectively.
