Ringo Starr is releasing his newest studio album in about a month. Here's the artwork, courtesy of Amazon.com: Ringo will turn 70 next July, and I think it's great that he is still active in music and releasing albums. We haven't talked much about Ringo's solo work here on the Click, so I thought this might make for a good discussion. Do you own any of Ringo's solo albums? What do you think of his work? Any favorites? I must admit, my Ringo collection isn't nearly as extensive as the other three Beatles'. I have Blast From Your Past on vinyl, and have Ringo, Goodnight Vienna, Rotogravure and Ringo the 4th in digital format. I know Ringo the 4th is very panned because of the "disco-ness" of it, but while it's not his best work, I kinda have a soft spot for some of the songs. I would like to get a copy of Bad Boy, as he does a cover of Michael Franks' Monkey See, Monkey Do, which I like quite a bit.

Ringo looks great for 70 doesn't he? I heard he was going to be releasing this new album, I also understand that Sir Paul played on a couple of tracks. My Ringo collection isn't huge, but I do have a few items: Albums Ringo - easily his best and my favorite Goodnight Vienna - a great album Blast From Your Past - I also owned this on cassette, but played it to death) Ringo's Rotogravure (Sealed) 45's It Don't Come Easy (w/ picture sleeve) (my #1 favorite Ringo tune ) Only You (Apple promo) Goodnight Vienna (with picture sleeve) CD's Ringo I Want To Be Santa Claus (This is a very good christmas album, for those here unfamiliar with it) I also like some of his newer material like "Weight Of The World" and his tribute to George "Never Without You."

I'm a bit younger than a lot of you, so my first encounter with Ringo was a bit different than yours. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Beatles, and like Ringo's solo work a lot. But, to me, he'll always be the narrator to the Thomas the Tank Engine series, and Mr. Conductor on Shining Time Station!

I own "Photograph: the Very Best of Ringo Starr", which pretty much has all the Ringo I need. However, I am happy he is still making new music and doing a duet with Paul for the new CD! I haven't seen him live, but would like the opportunity to do so. Hell, he was one quarter of arguably the most influential rock bands for all time!

I also own the "Photograph" CD, which pretty much covers his esentials...but i have many of his Apple singles...It is hard to comprehend now, but when the Beatles first split, for the first year or two Ringo was the most successful! His earliest solo work has aged very well--apparently, as well as the man himself, from looking at the CD cover!
