Daniel, I may have mentioned this before. I use legal size filing cabinets. The width of a drawer (or the depth of a drawer if you use a lateral cabinet as I do) is 14 inches. Perfect for two rows of 45s in each drawer.

Hi Daniel, Sometime back in the late 70's I decided to start organizing my 45's. I think at the time I had two boxes (it has now grown to ten). So I made a list (written by hand) in a 3 ring type notebook listing the title and artist. Later on as my collection grew, I decided to upgrade the list by adding the year of release and the condition of each record and if the 45 was a"reissue." I have well over 1000 now so it's nice to be able to find what I'm looking for very easily!

Looks like a very nice collection!
Another option to consider is the plastic three-drawer carts. I use two of these to hold my collection - not sure if the exact model is available anymore, as I've had them for about 6 years or so, but they are made by Sterilite and the drawers fit the width of the 45s exactly. Each drawer holds about 165 45s, so you can get quite a few in each cart.

I'm unable to see the pictures, all I see is a flickr error page.

Excellent suggestions, all! Bags Unlimited had some nice 45 boxes, but they're a bit pricey so other options are nice.
Ken, the "@" in the URL is not liked by the board software. I can't figure out how to get it to show up as a photo here, but a cut and paste of the URL should work.

My collection is in a VERY jerry-rigged set-up...I have an old entertainment center that I made wooden drawers for, and that holds the majority of my 45's--but a surprise was an old panty hose sales display that stands about 4' high and hold HUNDREDS of 45s in the slots intended for panty hose! I got it at a "going out of business" sale years ago...

Thanks, Ken! Grem: I am very intrigued by the pantyhose record rack. Unique solution!

Daniel: Use this tool: www.seabreezecomputers.com/html2bbcode/Just make sure the "BBCODE" button is lit up, and it will allow you to convert the HTML that Flickr gives you to BBCODE (which is what this board uses). It will allow you to directly display the photo on the post, and make the photo clickable directly back to your Flickr stream, so as not to violate Flickr TOS.
