Next to The Eagles, my favorite group/band. I said before that I love their music so much, that I can even tolerate their disco stuff, even though I prefer most of their earlier music.
Hopefully, I have found the original version of my favorite Bee Gees song. It's my #26 favorite song of all. Unranked; the B side of New York Mining Disaster 1941.

I am so not a disco fan either, but for some reason, I always loved this one.

For many years, my favorite by them was "Jive Talkin'." I still love it, but another song from the same album has edged it out for me lately. That would be "Nights on Broadway," from 1975. I remember this was a big favorite of Kitty's, too.
1974-75 was a very interesting period for them, as they transitioned from their earlier pop/baroque style to the more dance/disco sound they would be best known (and for a time, most infamous) for. During this time, they recorded in a variety of styles ranging from R&B to country.

During this time, they recorded in a variety of styles ranging from R&B to country. Although Nights on Broadway has a dance/disco feel to it, I have really come to like it a lot. It is mainly because of the bridge both it's melody and lyrics. The plaintiveness of the line "make it like it was before," who of us hasn't felt that way a few times? Dawn, your comment about The Bee Gees recording country songs reminded me of their minor hit "Don't Forget To Remember." I was not familiar with the song During The Day, but during the heyday of free Napster downloads, I was familiarizing myself with a number of Bee Gees songs, and came across this one and thought at first that it was one of the many Napster misrepresentations that you'd find. It was maybe a year after that when I found out it really was the Bee Gees, with Barry trying (and succeeding) to sound like a country and western singer. Ooops -- the link I thought was to the original turned out to be to some yo-yo trying to sing the song. So now here's the real song!! (Pretty bad video though. Looks klike Barry and Robin are dating!)

Don't care for the disco stuff. I went with this one. Starts at about the :50 mark.

I will remember Massachusetts. Did graduate work there, and knew a girl named Beth...

It was included on the "To Whom it May Concern" album from 1972 and also appeared as the b side to "Run To Me." Here is a live version from "Soundstage" from 1975.
