I was channel surfing last night and had the chance to check out a biography on Sam Cooke. It was part of PBS American Masters series. I became a Sam Cooke fan because of my older brother Steve had his greatest hits tapes. Sam Cooke was able to break barriers. Those not only included musical, but also racial ones as well. He was a brilliant musician with a great ear for talent. In addition, he also wrote and performed his own material. He had a million dollar contract with RCA Records. This was a deal unheard of at this time for any African-American performer. But Sam also had tragedy in his life. His first wife perished in a car wreck and his 18 month-old son drowned while he was away. I don't want to give too much away, but there are interviews with James Brown, Lou Rawls & James Brown whom sadly have all since passed on. So please check out your local PBS listings. This is a well done documentary!

Both of you: what did they say about his shooting death? As to what might have happened?
