Surprised that this list hadn't been started!
Did you ever read about a frog that dreamed of being a king, and then became one? In ANY other song by ANY other artist, that would be remarkably stupid...but Neil makes it honest poetry.

Ol Neil has lots of entries in the Jukebox of Cheese (including the above, I think) but he had a few neat things.
Like he pioneered mixing African music and pop ten years before Graceland, but Paul Simon got all the credit...

This is my favorite Neil Diamond song -- and it's not even the best version (the 45 version) -- but it's still very good and puts UB Untalented to shame!
