The Great "45 to DVD" Transfer! Album One

I finally had an open weeked to break in my retro-Crosley's CD recorder...and after two days of inhaling serious amounts of dust and mildew in my basement "music room", came up with the following "album" from my 45 collection (choices were based on songs I do not have on CD, or that I'm too cheap to buy on-line...).

So, Brother Grem, I am confused. Are you making audio cds, mp3 cds or mp3s on a dvd disc? - or - can you make a longer audio cd on a dvd disc?

My brain is too small for the major stuff--I'm just using the Crosley stereo to dub off the singles onto audio cd's, with designs to put the tracks onto my computer for ultimate transfer to mp3...

Two here I've never heard of- Tom Jones "What a Party" and "I'll be Standing By" by the Harrison Brothers. In fact, never even heard of the Harrison Brothers. Know anything about them? Time period or anything?

Both of these records have been in my family for decades, with no explaination--I think they were DJ throwaways that we somehow got at a garage sale. The Harrison Brothers single is an ABC/Paramount DJ promo with the white label--it was their only release for ABC, after a handful of releases on Clock. They also had a solo release for Atlantic before breaking up.

"What a Party" is the flipside to "City Girl" (1966), which never was a hit for Jones...however, basically because of the parrot on the label, I played the wrong side and just loved it! It is just a throwaway, but it is pure fun as Tom describes a party that goes wrong for everyone but him.

"I'll Be Standing By" (1964) is another flipside--the supposed hit was "Beautiful Lies", which is also very good. But "I'll Be Standing By" has a lovely 'feel' to it that overcomes its rather amateurish sound--a website compared it to "Spanish Harlem". One of the brothers is Bobby Harris, who had several solo releases in the mid/late 1960's for RCA. He even released an album as late as 1997.

Excellent CD collection!

I have many of these tracks on 45 and CD as well.

Mitch Ryder played at one of our local casinos a few weeks back.
