Did Millie Jackson ever have any hits? I don't seem to recall her. If her covers are any indication, I can see why.

This guy has A HOOK HAND!!Let's see them get away with THIS today!!Or this:This is just BAD on SO many levels... But the expressions on their faces are priceless!John & Yoko came in a brown paper bag.... Wonder what these two came in..... Pete: these LPs offer much food for thought.
Swamp Dogg: So that's what Michael Steele did before going into politics.
Cooper Family: Hey it's Joyce! She sure gets around.
Jimmy Jensen: Now you know where BLue Swede got their inspiration.
Velvett Fogg: Which one is Mel Torme?
Stan & Doug: Oh my- surely this must contain "I Yust Go Nuts for Christmas", by Yogi Yorgesson.
Deep question: Is there a predilection of Northern Europeans for bad LP covers?

Pete, How the Hell did find some of these? Even my book of album covers doesn't contain many of those you posted. Just goes to show that at one time in America, anyone could release an album.

There are just a couple of things that are even more disturbing to me, Pete. 1. In the "Understand Your'e Swede" album (BTW, interesting positioning of apostrophe) --- those two kids in the background under the tree to the left of the pathway: just what are they doing? 2. "Richard and Willie" -- who is the guy with his back to us, and what is HE doing? 3. "The Frivolous Five" The woman in the center with the shaving cream on her shoulder, holding the roses, looks eerily like my mother.

OMG! I may need to bleach my ears... Not to mention MY BRAIN!!! Hey, I don't think they're that bad. That #2 has a GREAT picture of Ken! LOL! The Ken cover is as iconic as Joyce's! Some time ago I came upon a thread on snopes.com about Ken's "By Request Only" album. It seemed that virtually no one had ever seen a copy of the album, and there was speculation that it was a photoshop job. But then a real copy appeared on eBay, and the seller sent photos of it to one of the snopes posters. From the info on the back cover, they were able to track down and even speak with Ken himself - he's a pastor in Iowa. It seems he was a good sport about the notoriety! Here's the thread: message.snopes.com/showthread.php?t=6300The Ken cover is strange with the close-up shot, and his hairstyle and clothes are extremely dated, but those cheesy "double exposure" portraits were pretty common back in the '70s, I remember. I even had one taken in 6th grade (not gonna post it here, though) Wow, I TOTALLY remember that snopes thread! As someone said there, it was relatively inexpensive back then to record and privately press small quantities of albums to be sold at concerts. I remember my mom going to see this singer named "Fortunato"(he'd emigrated from Italy to Syracuse)and coming home with his album, which was on pretty steady rotation at our house for awhile.

The Sciorpions "Virgin Killer" still gets my vote for the worst album cover ever because it's just disgusting. And I remember seeing it at a few websites where people criticize the "stuffy US" for banning the album cover. We have laws to protect children for a reason. What's more vile is that her dad was the one who came up with the idea and had the photo shot.
I saw that Black Man/Woman album somewhere with a friend of mine (can't remember where) and seeing it up close, it was obvious that at least the man's head had been dubbed into the photo, and we were unsure if the woman's head was or not.
Many of the ones shown (Mr. Bat, All My Friends Are Dead, etc) are religious recorings. They often provide the best in horrible album covers.

I was gonna say that, Rai...it seemed kind of odd that his head was a darker colour than the rest of his body.

Did Millie Jackson ever have any hits? I don't seem to recall her. If her covers are any indication, I can see why. A number of largely minor hits on the R&B charts (most below the top 20, a few above), apparently, but nothing I recall hearing. I thought she was the one who sang "Centipede" but that was Rebbie Jackson. My bad.
