I can't recall for certain if we've done a similar thread before here on the Click, but if not, I thought this might make for an interesting topic. There are "Worst Album Cover" books and blogs out there, and many of the covers featured are indeed dire. What are some examples of album artwork that make you recoil? Here we have Herbie Mann's album Push It. I actually own this LP, although rest assured, I didn't buy it for the cover! What was going through Herbie's head when this was shot? We didn't need to see him shirtless and sweaty! This cover is just bizarre beyond words. A disembodied head sitting on top of ham and pineapple. Who in the world is this Mr. Bat character? I shudder to think what this LP sounds like:

The 2009 album of the year: Blueboard's 15 minutes of fame: I'm still very proud of that accomplishment by the way. 2009 was a fantastic year. As for Georgia, it's VERY hard to get a copy of that album...after she quit Blueboard records, the staff steamrolled all existing copies and shredded her press releases. A year later, and it's like she never existed.

Well I can't get a pic over here, but if you image google "Millie Jackson LP". you'll see the worst cover ever. Don't worry...you'll know it when you see it.

Hey, I don't think they're that bad. That #2 has a GREAT picture of Ken! LOL! The Ken cover is as iconic as Joyce's! Some time ago I came upon a thread on snopes.com about Ken's "By Request Only" album. It seemed that virtually no one had ever seen a copy of the album, and there was speculation that it was a photoshop job. But then a real copy appeared on eBay, and the seller sent photos of it to one of the snopes posters. From the info on the back cover, they were able to track down and even speak with Ken himself - he's a pastor in Iowa. It seems he was a good sport about the notoriety! Here's the thread: message.snopes.com/showthread.php?t=6300The Ken cover is strange with the close-up shot, and his hairstyle and clothes are extremely dated, but those cheesy "double exposure" portraits were pretty common back in the '70s, I remember. I even had one taken in 6th grade (not gonna post it here, though)

Yep, I agree that cover is just horrendous. Millie was apparently known for pushing the envelope a bit back in the day, but that cover is the ultimate in bad taste. I wonder if she has regrets about that photo session?
