All right...I never thought I'd like this show, but admittedly, it isn't bad. The first one I watched was the one where they did that tribute to Madonna, and I admit, the cast is quite talented.
Though I can't follow the storylines as I'm a new viewer, the songs are quite catchy.
Anyone else watch it?

I saw two women singing "I Dreamed A Dream" from Les Miz. I didn't catch the story line, but the singing was top notch.

I watched the pilot episode and have seen bits and pieces of some of the others. The singing was good, but the storyline seemed a little forced at times to accommodate the songs (although that is often true of musicals in general). The show is very popular, though...usually there is an article about it in USA Today at least once a week.

Wasn't planning on seeing it.
What kind of songs & styles do they do on the show?

I don't watch, and don't plan on it.
In my opinion, it's largely aimed at the younger crowd (of which I'm not). It looks too much like that High School Musical stuff, and I'm not into that either. And lastly, I'm so sick of hearing about it every 2 seconds that I just tend to tune it out and resolve more to not watch it. ;D

It's one thing for a show to get attention on its own merits, but in the case of Glee, I get the impression that it's being made into more of a phenomenon than it actually is, simply for the sake of promotion. There's already something like 3 or 4 CDs available featuring the show's songs, and the show has barely run one season. I was hoping the show would be more like Fame, which I loved watching as a teen back in the day. There are some similarities to it, but alluding to what I mentioned in my other post, it seems more "forced" in terms of plot than Fame. I don't know, maybe it's because I'm a lot older and times have changed so much, but it didn't click with me as Fame did. As popular as the show is now, though, I don't see it lasting more than a few seasons. By then the novelty will have worn off, and much of the cast will have changed, as they graduate and move on.

I've seen a couple more episodes, more or less by accident; I turned on the TV and it was on! I still say the singing is great. It may be made for the teen to 20s crowd, but one episode I saw featured songs like "Young Girl" (1968), Don't Stand So Close To Me (1980), and Having My Baby (1974). You have to be at least well in your 30s to appreciate any of these songs, and in the case of Young Girl - probably close to 50, at least. (Unless you are a music nerd like people on, for instance, the Music Click, in which case age of people and age of the song does not matter!)

Now let me start by saying that I heard the "Glee" version of" Shout It Out Loud" via you tube and it was actually pretty good. I have never seen more than a couple of minutes of the show and I just don't think I could sit through an entire episode.
I do agree about it's overexposure and it being everywhere. One of our local morning news shows is on the same channel that airs Glee so the newscasters really hype it on the day that it's shown and it really gets on my nerves sometimes.
