I just watched a neat documentary on Robert Moog, the creator of the Moog Synthesizer called "Moog". It's a neat look into the creation of electronic music, which began literally as a fluke, back in the '60s. Robert Moog wasn't even a musician--- He was an electronic engineer with a far-out inspiration. If you have Netflix, you can watch it on demand. If you don't, the documentary is available on DVD. If this kind of thing interests ya, I highly recommend it!

There was some electronic music in the 40s and 50s. The theremin and computer-altered processors. The Moog was the first relatively easy-to-use synthesizer. (but I took a course on the moog at ASU in 1970, and the moog was much less user-friendly than the devices they have now.)
There's a documentary about the inventor of the theremin, too.
