Hard to believe it's been 30 years now, but how did you hear about John Lennon's death? Here's how I found out.

I was still in the womb when John Lennon passed away. Such a great loss to the music community.

I was upstains in my room, reading before going to bed--my parents were watching the Monday Night Football game when his murder was announced, and my Mom told me right away...I turned on our local top 40 station, and they were playing "Imagine"...that's when it hit me.

I was in my bedroom listening to some Beatles music. My Mom came in and told me there was a phone call for me. It was a guy I went to school with, he told me that John had been shot and died. I was in shock. After the call, I ran to the radio we had in the kitchen and turned it on, the DJ was playing Hello, Goodbye, after the song ended he repeated the news.
It really is hard to believe it's been 30 years, RIP John.

I didn't find out about it until the next day, in first period Spanish class. Many of my classmates were talking about him, and when I asked what was up, my teacher told me he had been shot five times. I then proceeded to put my foot in my mouth by asking "How is he?"

I was watching Monday Night Football myself. When I heard Howard Cosell announce it, when he first said John Lennon, I didn't know who he was talking about, because I was thinking 'sports figure.' Then it hit me.
RIP, John.

I was in Boston, came home from evening classes, and my roommate said Lennon had been shot and killed.
I snapped at him that as a joke, that was in very bad taste.
But of course in wasn't a joke...

I was a fourth grader at Johnny Appleseed Elemantary School. I found out the news when my Mom had woke me up for school the next morning and told me John Lennon had been shot and killed. I almost didn't want to believe it. I had been a huge Beatles fan and I loved "(Just Like) Starting Over" which was one of my favorite songs on the radio. Kids at school were talking about it in class, even my teachers. I always wondered what John would be doing now had he not had that encounter with Mark Chapman. Probably still creating great music.
