Thanks for posting! I hadn't heard this.
Altho I don't think there ever was such an entity as Alice Cooper Band. There was Alice Cooper (group) and then Alice Cooper (person)
Dr John coulda subbed for Sam the Sham in the "Wooly Bully" video without a hat!

I read that Alice and the orignal band got in, it's about time! Had another look at the other inductees, and I have to say that this is the first time that I haven't asked myself "why are they being inducted?"

Had another look at the other inductees, and I have to say that this is the first time that I haven't asked myself "why are they being inducted?" I've always thought that Alice's best work was with the original band, but I was a bit surprised they made that distinction. It seems that usually when a band gets in it gets in with all permutations of members.

Happy to hear Alice Cooper and his band got inducted. Broke all sorts of attendance records and help carve his own style as well. Bob Dylan has even been quoted that Alice was an underrated songwriter. Neil Diamond is a legend, whom has gone in and out of fashion over the years. Yet no one can deny his songwriting and a huge concert draw. Darlene Love is one the most underrated female R & B singers of all time. She may not have sold as many records as Diana Ross or Aretha Franklin, but has her own unique style. Leon Russell wrote one of my favorite ballads, "A Song For You" which has been covered from diverse performers such as the Carpenters and the legendary Ray Charles. The work he did with Elton John was brilliant. There's a mutual admiration between the two, so maybe Elton will induct him. Tom Waits has a style that is avant garde. Bruce Springteen covered his "Jersey Girl" and Rod Stewart had a huge hit with his interpretation of "Downtown Train". Waits isn't the world's best singer, but niether is Patti Smith or Yoko Ono. Maybe the induction of Alice Cooper will open the door for other hard rock acts. One can only hope.
