Great haul, Grem. A question: Some of those songs are quite obscure; are you familiar with them or they just by famiiar artists and you wanted to hear some of their lesser works? (For instance: Gene Chandler, Ernie Maresca, Bobby Lewis, Booker T.)

When you say "Lucille" had a crack, do you mean a deep scratch, or do you literally mean cracked all the way through? I know I bought a record or two that had been cracked through, and I'd put a piece of scotch tape on the B side to hold it together and actually get the A side to play.

Some of them are artists that I knew had bigger hits, but their lesser releases interested me, especially Chandler's covering James Brown...some were from collectable labels that I knew had value, such as Otis Leavill, which was on Dakar, and someone actually posted on You Tube, and Larry Finnegan, which was on Old Town, and is so obscure that my Goldmine guides don't list him, despite the fact this made it to #11 in the early 1960's.... Johnny Ray Gomez is actually an old Omaha act from the 1950's-60's that never quite got the national exposure that other Husker acts got.

Do you know anything about the Warner Brothers' "Plus 2" releases? That Everly Brothers single was released as a legit single, not as an EP--apparently they added abbreviated versions of two oldies as a 'bonus'. I'd never seen one before.

The crack goes to the label--but that is the only damage--it is quite solid otherwise.

I have that Larry Finegan 45 on Old Town also. I don't think it's worth that much. I have an old price guide from 1978 (Jerry Osbourne, 2nd edition). It lists Dear One as worth only $1.25. It's probably worth more than that now, but I can't imagine it being a big collectors item.

To show you how dead the 45 market is in Omaha, the owner of the antique store recognizes me at his store, because I apparently am the only person who really checks over his singles! He even says, "I got some new ones since you've been here", and I am usually in there only 3-4 times a year!

He's got thousands of 45's and a good selection of albums, and he seems happy that anyone is interested in them--he cuts me a 1/2 price deal, because I wind up cleaning up and organizing the mess as I go through them...
