I couldn't make this up if I tried. 2005: Country-pop singer Lynn Anderson is arrested for stealing a Harry Potter DVD from a supermarket in Taos, NM, and then, allegedly, punching the arresting officer in the stomach. oldies.about.com/od/oldieshistory/a/january24.htm

This is the one from the list that gets me:
"Danny Peppermint, singer of the original version of "Peppermint Twist," is hospitalized after being electrocuted by live mic during a gig at the Thunderbird in Las Vegas."
Everything I see is that the song "Pepperment Twist" was written by Joey Dee of Joey Dee and the Starlighters, and they had the hit version. There is apparently a song called The Peppermint Twist that was sung by Danny Peppermint, but it is a totally different song that was never a hit. Just because a song has the identical name doesn't make it the original version. That's like saying that Warrant's Cherry Pie was orignally done by Skip and Flip.

A supermarket in Taos? 1965: Had no idea Ferry Cross the Mersey was a movie and title song.
