About this time last year, I had just bought Tommy James' autobiography, and found myself listening to this quite often...along with enjoying this clip from the Ed Sullivan show...
Apparently, ol' Ed (who referred to the group as "Tony James and the Spondells" the week before) wanted them to perform live, which would have been a nightmare considering the recording's reliance on studio tricks. Also, they did not see that set until that day, which scared them tremendously; they spent more time worrying about falling off the set on national tv than on playing. Still, a classic. (And read the YouTube comments on what folks think Tommy "did" to get the effects at the song's end--none of which is true, but still interesting reading!)

Last year, I was kind of rediscovering late 70's music (that wasn't disco), and I came upon this one, which I found myself really liking a lot. I still enjoy it now.

I checked back to this time last year, as to where I was in developing my Top 500. The song that got in at that time was this one from 1975.
