Has anyone noticed that around the time of the Beatles' release of "Hey Jude" that suddenly there was a rash of extended choruses ending songs?
The Beatles broke the "must be under 4:00, or DJ's won't play it" rule--simply because they could.
There is the original--
Then came Donovan (who never saw a music style he couldn't shamelessly take advantage of)...
And even studio bands were joining the move, as seen by Steam (though their attempt was purely accidental--they tried to make a single so bad that the DJ's would play the actual A side...but fate intervened)... ...
What other long chorus endings come to mind?
