I really appreciate everyone taking time to respond to all 20 songs everyday! I am enjoying reading the responses! ;D
6380. Show Some Respect-Tina Turner 1985 Ended with Tina yesterday, beginning with her today. Again, I respect her legend, I just don't think much of her voice or songs.
6379. It's a Raining Again-Supertramp 1982 I remember when this came out how whimpy I thought it was. And the guy in the video was even whimpier! Glad I have the video on tape though, as you don't see it anymore.
6378. Drive-R.E.M. 1992 Stipe's voice wasn't quite as annoying on this song, but the song was just so DREERY.
6377. Minute by Minute-Doobie Brothers 1979 I'm sure this ranking will bother people (especially Kitty), but I just don't dig McDonald and his whole era. My mom liked this stuff though. For that matter, my dad liked his voice too. Just one of the few artists they liked that I didn't pick up.
6376. Promised You a Miracle-Simple Minds 1982 When I got their Greatest Hits disc, I listened through and recognized this song, although I didn't think I previously knew it. Not bad, but more new wave sounding than their top 40 hits.
6375. So Close-Hall & Oates 1990 Not that they were ever balls out rockers, but this was just way mellow for me. And not in a good way, like their early hits. They were just buying time at this point.
6374. Solitary Man-Neil Diamond 1966/70 Neil's still showing up on the list! This one wasn't too bad, more tolerable than his late 70's stuff.
6373. One Good Woman-Peter Cetera 1988 Usually an artist will do ok if his solo stuff sounds similar to his group stuff. Peter did-but he sounded like Chicago's 80's stuff, not their early 70's stuff!
6372. The Best-Tina Turner 1989 Man, Tina's all over the bottom of this list! This isn't too bad a ranking though, when you consider the year it came out!
6371. Just For Today-George Harrison 1987 At this very moment, I can't get the melody or words in my head, but I bet I would rank it a little higher these days. But I do remember it being one of the weaker Cloud Nine tracks.
6370. Lalena-Donovan 1968 Actually, I pretty much like all the songs on Donnie's Greatest Hits, but this one was pretty mellow, moreso than normal for him.
6369. Meet Me Half Way-Kenny Loggins 1987 At this point Kenny should have been thinking, "Maybe it's time to give Jim a call again!" The King of the Soundtracks strikes again.
6368. Graceland-Paul Simon 1986/87 Everybody knows by now I am not big on him or S&G, but I dig more of his solo stuff. This is NOT one of them. Annoying.
6367. In the Year 2525 (Exordium & Terminus)-Zager & Evans 1969 How this went to number one in the year of Woodstock, I don't know. Ever hear it on oldies radio anymore? Didn't think so.
6366. An Innocent Man-Billy Joel 1983/84 Like Simon, I'm not a big Joel fan, but he had some I really liked. This, with his high pitched singing, is not one of them!
6365. The Goonies 'R' Good Enough-Cyndi Lauper 1983/84 The best thing about this song, back me up here Pete, was the video. Several wrestlers appeared in the video, including one of my faves, Rowdy Roddy Piper. Song was annoying.
6364. Sugar Mountain-Neil Young 1977 Only a single until it appeared on the Decade compilation, but I don't believe it ever even cracked the Hot 100. Not Neil's best, that's for sure. Don't even hear it on the Classic Rock stations anymore.
6363. I'm Coming Out-Diana Ross 1980 (Previous Ranking-3557) This is the first entry where the ranking is different from before. I went back and re-evaluated the entire list, and there were some entries with really out of whack rankings. This is one. Miss Diva at her worst.
6362. Leave a Tender Moment Alone-Billy Joel 1984 Another yawner from Joel. The early 80's stuff was better.
6361. Say Say Say-Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson 1983 Paul hits a career low. And I bet he is REALLY kicking himself in the ass after Michael bought the Beatles songs out from under him.
Let's hear it!

Hey! It's daytime, and I'm answering this post! ;D
Show Some Respect--I like this song a lot. Haven't heard it in awhile. Thinking about it makes me want to hear it again.
It's Raining Again--There are lots of other Supertramp songs I like better, but this one's ok.
Drive--I'm sure I'd know this if I heard it, but at the moment, I can't place the tune.
Minute By Minute--Didn't care for this one much. Too repetitive.
Promised You a Miracle--Have to pass. Don't know it.
So Close--Doesn't sound familiar.
Solitary Man--This one's not bad. I can listen to it without wincing too much.
One Good Woman--I think I remember liking this song.
The Best--Great tune! A favorite of mine by Tina.
Just For Today--Don't know it.
Lalena--See above.
Meet Me Halfway--Ditto.
Graceland--Pretty good. Not one you hear every day, so it still sounds pretty fresh whenever it is played on the radio.
In the Year 2525--I LOVED this song when I was a kid. I had the 45 and played it to death! I just thought it was so cool that they were talking about all that stuff that was gonna happen in the future. LOL!
An Innocent Man--Was gettin' kinda tired of Billy at this point.
The Goonies--Not one of Cyndi's best, but I don't mind hearing it occasionally.
Sugar Mountain--Can't remember it right now, but I'm not big on Neil Young.
I'm Coming Out--Dumb song. Never liked it.
Leave a Tender Moment Alone--Still tired of Billy.
Say Say Say--Yeesh! What an awful song.

You remember how original those movies were then. Tom Cruise as a bartender. Tom Cruise as a race car driver. Pretty darn clever.

In a little bit of a hurry today, so I'll go through these quickly.
6380. Of course, you know I like Tina, but I don't know this song.
6379. I've never even heard of this song.
6378 - 6373. Don't know these songs.
6372. 1989 was a good year for music, wasn't it? But name a year in the 80s that wasn't good! I love this song. One of my favorites of Tina's.
6371 - 6364. Don't know these.
6363. I like it, but I agree...not one of Diana's best. I prefer Ru Paul's version. LMAO!!!
6362. Never heard it.
6361. I only faintly remember this song, but I do remember that I don't like it. Blah.

6380. Show Some Respect-Tina Turner 1985 Don't know this one 6379. It's a Raining Again-Supertramp 1982 They weren't a bad group, I thought. This one was OK. (Liked The Logical Song much better) 6378. Drive-R.E.M. 1992 Can't place it, I know I've heard it. 6377. Minute by Minute-Doobie Brothers 1979 Not my fave by them. 6376. Promised You a Miracle-Simple Minds 1982 Don't remember this. 6375. So Close-Hall & Oates 1990 Don't know it. 6374. Solitary Man-Neil Diamond 1966/70 This was his first hit. He sounded more like a folksinger than anything else. Always have liked this one. 6373. One Good Woman-Peter Cetera 1988 OK 6372. The Best-Tina Turner 1989 Don't know it 6371. Just For Today-George Harrison 1987 Don't remember it 6370. Lalena-Donovan 1968 With Donovan, I loved some songs and couldn't stand others. This is in the latter category. (ugh) 6369. Meet Me Half Way-Kenny Loggins 1987 Can't place it 6368. Graceland-Paul Simon 1986/87 No 6367. In the Year 2525 (Exordium & Terminus)-Zager & Evans 1969 King of the One Hit Wonders. How did this get to number one? -- One way only... the tune was incredibly catchy before it became incredibly overplayed. Did you ever listen to the lyrics? They make absolutely no sense on a literal level. 6366. An Innocent Man-Billy Joel 1983/84 Not one of Billy's best. What bugs me about this is that Billy uses such a complex rhyming scheme, that it sounds like he's not rhyming at all. Thus the song sorta always seems to be just hanging there, never coming to a conclusion. 6365. The Goonies 'R' Good Enough-Cyndi Lauper 1983/84 No thanks 6364. Sugar Mountain-Neil Young 1977 Don't know it. 6363. I'm Coming Out-Diana Ross 1980 (Previous Ranking-3557) Diana Ross as a soloist was never great, IMO. This one isn't too bad, although I'd rather hear Michael Jackson sing it. 6362. Leave a Tender Moment Alone-Billy Joel 1984 Don't remember this one. 6361. Say Say Say-Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson 1983 You're right, Adam. This may be the worst thing that Paul ever did.

Tom Cruise as a bartender. Tom Cruise as a race car driver. Pretty darn clever. You forgot Tom Cruise as a vampire. ;D And it continues even now. I just saw a preview the other day to some movie that stars Tom Cruise as some sort of...Samurai Warrior. Yeah. Ok. ;D BTW--If Meet Me Halfway was in that "Tom Cruise as pilot" movie--Top Gun? I'll pass. Ick.

Sorry I haven't been responding lately, but it seems like I'm saying, "Don't know it" to half the songs on the list... 6380. Don't know it. 6379. Simple and sing-songy, but I kinda like it. 6378. Don't know it. 6377. Not crazy about this one. Prefer the Pat Simmons era. 6376. Don't know it. 6375. Eh...prefer their early hits. 6374. (I know TWO in a ROW--STOP THE PRESSES! )Not bad. 6373. Not really a fan of Cetera's solo stuff. He supposedly left Chicago in part to get away from the ballads, so why were most of his solo hits BALLADS?? 6372-6370. Don't know them. 6369. OK, not his best. 6368. Not fond of it. 6367. This one has always sounded creepy to me. NO WONDER they didn't have another hit.(BTW, my oldies station digs this up from time to time.) 6366. Not one of my favorites by Billy. 6365. Haven't heard this one in years. Let's keep it that way. 6364. Don't know it. 6363. No thanks.(But at H2's comment though.) 6362. See 6366. 6361. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!(*runs screaming in the opposite direction*)

Hi Adam 6380 - This one totally passed me by - don't know it. 6379 - I might have this video on tape as well - I know that I saw it many times when it was new. I thought it was a pretty good tune I recorded it off the radio back then. 6378 - Didn't care much for the lyrics or the way he sang it at all - the only thing that was really all that good was Peter's guitar playing. 6377 - I like both era's of the band . My oldest brother was a big fan and bought the album when it came out . A good tune. 6376 - I had a listen to it but I've never heard it before. Not bad from what I heard but it doesn't have the polished sound of their later hits. 6375 - This is among my faves from H and O . I have it on a mix tape , and played it often. I was actually suprised to just discover that it was not included on their Very Best of Collection ? I would have added it if I had compiled the CD. 6374 - One of my very favorite tunes from Neil - I added it to a mix CD I made quite a while back. I like the punchiness of the horn section. 6373 - I was stunned when he left Chicago - and never really bothered to follow his solo stuff all that closely I know that he did a few duets. He was just so much better with the band. 6372 - I thought this was among her best I still find her portrayal of The Acid Queen very freaky after all these years - she really nailed it. LOL 6371 - I can't remember the melody either geez LOL. 6370 - I have this on Rhino's British rock series - I don't listen to it quite as much as the other hits but it's good. 6369 - LOL What does Jim do now ? - Don't recall it but he was indeed the king of the soundtracks 6368 - Paul was discovering different music styles once again of course having earlier included hints of reggae. I though the bass playing and the rhythms were kind of cool. 6367 - This recieved alot of oldies airplay locally in the 80's I heard it often and picked up my 45 copy in high school . I remember hearing it as a kid and even though I liked it I found the lyrics very creepy. 6366 - It's been a very long time since I've heard this . It kind of reminds me of The Drifters. 6365 - I saw the video for the first time in a very long time , about 2-3 months ago? The song was never a favorite of mine at all. 6364 - My classic rock station loved this at one point playing it several times a week. 6363 - Don't know it. 6362 - Nope. 6361 - It still really annoys me that Michael still owns The Beatles catalogue. Grrrrr

6380. Show Some Respect-Tina Turner 1985 A good one from her Private Dancer album, but almost never heard today.
6379. It's a Raining Again-Supertramp 1982 I've always liked this one.
6378. Drive-R.E.M. 1992 Not one of their better ones.
6377. Minute by Minute-Doobie Brothers 1979 I like this, but it's one of my lesser faves from the McDonald era.
6376. Promised You a Miracle-Simple Minds 1982 I don't think I know this one.
6375. So Close-Hall & Oates 1990 I don't remember this one, but I agree that their later material wasn't that great.
6374. Solitary Man-Neil Diamond 1966/70 One of his best early songs, IMO.
6373. One Good Woman-Peter Cetera 1988 This is probably my favorite of all his solo work - still, no match for his work with Chicago.
6372. The Best-Tina Turner 1989 One of my lesser faves of Tina's - just never warmed up to it.
6371. Just For Today-George Harrison 1987 I can't quite recall this either offhand, but I remember liking just about every song on Cloud Nine.
6370. Lalena-Donovan 1968 Donovan's music was so great, always well done.
6369. Meet Me Half Way-Kenny Loggins 1987 I don't remember this one - his mid-to-late 80s songs didn't get much airplay here back in the day.
6368. Graceland-Paul Simon 1986/87 No, no, no. I like Paul, but I've never cared for this one.
6367. In the Year 2525 (Exordium & Terminus)-Zager & Evans 1969 This is an interesting song, with very dark lyrics. I've always liked it.
6366. An Innocent Man-Billy Joel 1983/84 Nope - this is my least favorite of his Innocent Man cuts.
6365. The Goonies 'R' Good Enough-Cyndi Lauper 1983/84 I haven't heard this in many years. I wasn't crazy about it at the time, but it's grown on me.
6364. Sugar Mountain-Neil Young 1977 Not familiar.
6363. I'm Coming Out-Diana Ross 1980 (Previous Ranking-3557) One of my favorite Diana solo tunes.
6362. Leave a Tender Moment Alone-Billy Joel 1984 This is my favorite from An Innocent Man. Don't hear it much anymore, though.
6361. Say Say Say-Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson 1983 Loved this back in the day, and still enjoy it a lot.

Another round!
6380. Show Some Respect-Tina Turner 1985 Great song.
6379. It's a Raining Again-Supertramp 1982 Another fine one.
6378. Drive-R.E.M. 1992 I liked it back in '92, just can't get into it today.
6377. Minute by Minute-Doobie Brothers 1979 Super! Love the electric piano intro.
6376. Promised You a Miracle-Simple Minds 1982 I recall the 1987 "live" version more.
6375. So Close-Hall & Oates 1990 Never liked their later stuff as much (but their latest stuff's better than the crap rap!), but this is passable.
6374. Solitary Man-Neil Diamond 1966/70 Awesome tune! Recently burned it.
6373. One Good Woman-Peter Cetera 1988 One of my 3 fave solo tunes of his (with Glory of Love and Even a Fool can See).
6372. The Best-Tina Turner 1989 Nice one, but the bulk of her stuff from 1984-1987 was even better.
6371. Just For Today-George Harrison 1987 Can't quite place this.
6370. Lalena-Donovan 1968 This is NIIIICE!
6369. Meet Me Half Way-Kenny Loggins 1987 Not one of his better soundtrack tunes. Gimme "Nobody's fool"!
6368. Graceland-Paul Simon 1986/87 Title track from one of my top 500 albums. Funny how the song was "Record of the Year" for 1987, but the album won for 1986.
6367. In the Year 2525 (Exordium & Terminus)-Zager & Evans 1969 Not one of the 60's better #1's.
6366. An Innocent Man-Billy Joel 1983/84 HATE this! Unfair that this made Casey's top 100 of 1984, and not "Longest Time".
6365. The Goonies 'R' Good Enough-Cyndi Lauper 1983/84 I got into this a bit this past summer. Is this available on CD, anybody? I'm fairly certain the "Goonies" soundtrack was never issued on CD (I could be wrong), and it didn't make her "12 Deadly Cyns" set. LOVE the 45 pic sleeve as well as the movie. Cheesy!
6364. Sugar Mountain-Neil Young 1977 Great one. A shame this pretty tune didn't chart. I've heard it a while back a few times on classic rock radio.
6363. I'm Coming Out-Diana Ross 1980 (Previous Ranking-3557) Please do include previous rankings if the song took a dramatic dive or jump. I'm sure that "belly button ad" made some people dislike this song recently. It's good in moderation with me.
6362. Leave a Tender Moment Alone-Billy Joel 1984 Perhaps the fact that there were some "downers" on "An Innocent Man" is why I don't have the CD yet. His 3 from 1977-1980 still can't be beat.
6361. Say Say Say-Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson 1983 On my older (current) CRAZY list, this (yes...) is still in my top 1000. Doing an update, it would probably not be in anymore (even though it WAS #1 for 6 weeks).

6378. Drive-R.E.M. 1992 Nor this one.

6375. So Close-Hall & Oates 1990- I've never been too big on Hall and Oates, and I haven't heard this one yet.
6374. Solitary Man-Neil Diamond 1966/70 I like this song...for the longest time I thought he was saying he would be a Cemetery Man though.
6373. One Good Woman-Peter Cetera 1988 Haven't heard this one.
6372. The Best-Tina Turner 1989 This song always irritated me.
6371. Just For Today-George Harrison 1987 I haven't heard this yet.

6369. Meet Me Half Way-Kenny Loggins 1987 Nor this one.

Hey Dave! "Goonies" is available on the CD The Essential Cyndi Lauper - it contains 14 tracks - check it out at mymusic.com
