Admittingly, this got to be a chore after awhile, but I REALLY missed doing it! Glad to have a forum again for this feature which seemed to be well liked! Wished people like Pete70s and Oscar were here for it though. Here we go!! Faith Hill-Such mixed feelings about her. I really liked her self titled album, the one with This Kiss. I liked her songs and image. But then on the next album, Breathe, the whole focus went on her image, which became trampy. And her singing was starting to lose something. The current album I don't like at all, and it seems most country fans feel the same way. As far as her look, I think she was 100 times better looking on that self-titled cover than she does now. So fake. And her singing, I think is actually good. But it pisses me off she won 3 female of the year awards at either the CMA's or ACM's, because Martina McBride has a better voice, but they were focusing on Faith's looks and her crossover appeal. Still, here are some songs I like-This Kiss, Better Days, Secret of Life, There Will Come a Day, Way That You Love Me. Human League-One of many "several hit wonders" of the 80s that most likely wouldn't have been as big had there been no MTV. Liked and bought Don't You Want Me at the time, but got sick of it. Never liked Human. But I LOVE my fave-(Keep Feeling) Fascination. Humble Pie-Great little group that should get more respect. Similar in sound to the Faces, and of course, where the Black Crowes got their sound. Also helped launch Peter Frampton. In fact, there is a great song called Shine On, on which he sings lead, for all you Frampton fans who didn't know! Faves-30 Days in the Hole, Shine On, Hot-n-Nasty, I Don't Need No Doctor, C'Mon Everybody. Engelbert Humperdinck-Laughable artist, unless you like throwing your underwear on stage! LOL! Fluff to me, with Release Me being nothing and After the Lovin' being MILDLY passable. Faves-none. Brian Hyland-60's artist with lightweight poppy hits. Itsy-bitsy....is kindof annoying at this point. But he did a great job on the Impressions' Gypsy Woman! Faves-Gypsy Woman. Ok, so gang, just give your HONEST opinion on each artist! If you are not familiar with an artist, just say so! ENJOY!

The wait is over - Woo Hoo! Faith Hill - There's no doubt that she is pretty, but I know what you mean Adam her looks / image have really kicked into high gear overshadowing her music.I think that Martina has more of a vocal range. Faves:Better Days , Let's Go To Vegas , This Kiss , Wild One , Take Me as I Am. The Human League - I've mentioned before back at YL how I never cared for all the Synth bands that popped up during the 80's. But I have to admit that I liked a couple of "The Leagues" songs. I agree with you that MTV / Muchmusic / Friday Night Videos etc had alot to do with their success (along with many other artists) .Faves: Don't You Want Me and Mirror Man. Humble Pie - Love them! they should have been huge! A great 70's boogie band.I have A & M's Classics- Volume 14 on CD. RIP Steve Marriott . Faves: 30 Days in The Hole , Natural Born Woman , I Don't Need No Doctor , Hot N' Nasty,Shine On , Take Me Back and C'mon Everybody. Englebert Humperdinck - I still can't believe Release Me kept Penny Lane/ Strawberry Fields out of the #1 spot in the U.K. (Huh??) . One of my friends' mom's when we were kids had the Release Me Album . No faves. Brian Hyland - I actually still don't mind hearing Itsy Bitsy once in a while but My big fave is: Gypsy Woman - great Track!

Seems like you were only her a minute and this came up! LOL! I know, you wanted to be the first to answer! I am impressed by your knowledge of Faith's book of songs! Yeah, that is how I feel about the League-one of many synth bands like Frankie Goes, Dead or Alive, etc. Pie-I have the collection with the fat woman in curlers with the pie thrown in her face! LOL!

Faith Hill - Thanks I played her songs quite often when I DJ'd so I have a few of them. Humble Pie - LMAO - I 've seen that one!

Hey Sat. Where'd you come up with this idea? This is a real stupid idea for a post. Why didn't you include: Harry Houdini - the greatest magician of all time Richard Haliburton - the great explorer Alexander Hamilton - who once said "hey, Aaron, betcha can't shoot me from there!" Winslow Homer - One of the greatest of the late 19th early 20th century artists. or Shane A. Hole - who also fits the category ;D ;D ;D OK. Enough. Here you go: Faith Hill- I know who she is, but I'm not really familiar with her music. I know I've heard her sing on TV (maybe Saturday Night Live??) and she was OK. Human League- Don't You want Me always reminded me of "Reach Out Of the Darkness" by Friend and Lover -- another Boy/Girl answer song. - even though the themes are quite different. I kind of liked Don't You Want Me. I liked Human less. Not Familiar with Fascination except when I tried to download a different song also called Fascination from the 50s, and kept on getting hits on this song. Humble Pie- Heard of them, don't really know their music. Engelbert Humperdinck- Unless you are referring to the German Composer of the Opera Hansel and Gretel, I assume you mean the British singer who was born Arnold George Dorsey. (and of course, borrowed the composer's name). I actually liked some of his songs, especially Release Me (And Let Me Love Again) which was a cover of an R&B tune by Little Esther Phillips. Lez Bicyclettes De Belsize (spelling is all screwed up) and a couple of other songs weren't bad either. He had quite a good, powerful voice. That said, I wouldn't go out and by the box set. BTW, did you know that he sang a song called "Lesbian Seagull" on the Beavis and Butt-Head soundtrack? Brian Hyland- I kind of liked Hyland. "Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polkadot Bikini" when it hit #1 in 1960, at the time was the song with the longest title to hit #1. - how's that for a piece of useless trivia? I also liked Sealed with a Kiss, I May Not Live To See Tomorrow (which is on my "No One Else Remembers" cd), Ginny Come Lately, and Gypsy Woman, which as you pointed out, may be his best. Real glad this feature is back, Sat

It's great to see this again! I've missed it!
Faith Hill - Like you, I have mixed feelings about her. She does have a good voice, and is attractive, but I too have been disappointed with the direction her image has taken. Favorites: Wild One, This Kiss, Breathe, There Will Come a Day (very powerful).
Human League - One of the best synth-based acts of its day. Their music sounds a little dated now, but it never fails to bring back great memories of my teen years. Favorites: Don't You Want Me, (Keep Feeling) Fascination, Mirror Man, Human.
Humble Pie - Here's a group I need to investigate more closely. I really enjoy Peter Frampton's music, so I'm pretty sure this is a band I'd like. Favorites: Shine On, 30 Days in the Hole.
Engelbert Humperdinck - I actually don't mind him in small doses, but as Ken said, it's a shame that 'Release Me' kept the Beatles out of #1. Favorites: After the Lovin', The Last Waltz.
Brian Hyland - I don't care for 'Itsy Bitsy' at all, but like you and Ken, I think he does a great job with 'Gypsy Woman'! Love it!

Human League-They are synonim of the "80's". Listen to any of their songs and have an 1980's MTV flashback. Never bought any of their CD's.
Engelbert Humperdinck- I grew up listening to songs so for me he sounded astonishing as Tom Jones.

1. Faith Hill - Like This Kiss & Breath, but only because I heard them on VH1 or the radio, not because I made an effort to like them.
2. Human League - Think this is another 80s group I missed out on while I wasn't listening to the radio in the 80s. Favorites: None that I know of
3. Humble Pie - One of the great underground groups of the 60s. Got a album (vinyl) called "The Best of Nice, Small Faces, Humble Pie, Eric Clapton, & John Mayall. Really should be better known, but if they were, they would have been exploited. Favorites: Natural Born Boogie, The Sad Bag of Shaky Jake, As Safe As Yesterday Is, Alabama '69, Cold Lady, and 30 Days in the Hole. Humble Pie rocks
4. Englebert Humperdick - Nothing nice to say
5. Brain Hyland - Don't mind Itsy Bitsy, but Gypsy Woman was a pretty good song. His version of Sealed with a Kiss wasn't so bad either.
Thanks for bringing this back. I'm no longer in withdrawal. Really missed this feature. As a matter of fact, the day YL went down, I was answering your "opinion" post.

Oh, but I AM here, Sat!!
Of course I headed straight for this thread!
But I can't say much for these picks, except for Human League. One of the few 80's New Wave acts to continue to have hits in the 90's. I only have their Greatest Hits, but it is one of the best compilations by an 80's New Wave artist I've ever heard.
Faith Hill is always easy on the eyes, and "The Way You Love Me" was a pretty good song.
Humble Pie are a legendary band, my brother had a double album by them called "Eat It!", but I never listened to it.
Brian Hyland- I like "Gypsy Woman" and "The Joker Went Wild"
Englebert Humperdink-Someone tried to tell me once that he had talent, but then again, someone also once tried to tell me that Wayne Newton actually did a good song.. I believe neither.

I only feel qualified to make comment on 2:
Faith Hill - SOOOO overplayed around here that I really don't care if I never heard another of her songs again. Radio killed the crossover country star around here.
The Human League - one of my all time favorites. Have a few of their cd's. The best one is "Don't You Want Me" followed very closely by "Keep Feeling Facination"
