Sorry it took me so long, but here's my response, finally! I haven't been online in four days.
Joan Jett & the Blackhearts--I Love Rock'n'Roll!!!!
Billy Joel--I love him. He's really great. Faves-New York State of Mind, We Didn't Start the Fire
Elton John--My favorite real-life flamboyant gay man! Elton John rocks! Faves-Benny and the Jets, Crocodile Rock, Written in the Stars (with Leann Rimes)
Carolyn Dawn Johnson--I really like her. Great songwriter, good performer. She's gonna be big in country in the future. Faves- I Don't Want You to Go, Complicated

Joan Jett & the Blackhearts- I liked her first two hits, and not much after that. I Love Rock and Roll, I think is one of the several songs thathave been recorded over the years that can truly be called an Anthem. A good, powerful song. Crimson and Clover is quite good too. A reasonable cover. Not quite as good as Tommy James' version IMO.
Billy Joel- One of my favorite soloists. The guy is extremely versatile. When I first heard Uptown Girl, I thought the Four Seasons had reunited. For The Longest Time is fine 50s Doo Wop. Only the Good Die Young is as good a piece of satirical music as I've ever heard. We Didn't Start the Fire is a brilliant collection of memories. Piano Man puts you in the piano bar. The Downeaster Alexa - I always loved as a folksong. After I saw "The Perfect Storm" I understood it even more. New York State of Mind, ditto after 9/11. Faves: I just named a bunch of them. Also: Scenes from an Italian Restaurant, The Stranger, Movin Out, Just The Way You Are (great sax), Allentown.
Elton John- Love most of his early stuff, especially Someone Saved My Life, Your Song, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me, Daniel, and Crocodile Rock (a great retro song.) From the 80s, I love I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues. At one time, I liked Candle in the Wind. A terrific way to remember MM. But then they played it eight thousand times an hour. And then he had to do the Princess Di thing. ... Oh well.
Robert John- I just about echo your sentiments, Sat. I really like Sad Eyes (in my all time top 250). Lion Sleeps Tonite doesn't hold up to the Tokens.
Carolyn Dawn Johnson- Don't know her.

I never liked the fact that Candle in the Wind was made into a Princess Di tribute, when it was originally a tribute to someone else!

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts - Man, I thought she was so tough lookin' when "I Love Rock and Roll" came out. She kicked some a s s, and still does! Saw her in an old episode of Highlander that I had taped, and she's still just as beautiful. Faves: Bad Reputation (Great theme song for Freaks and Geeks), I Love Rock and Roll, Crimson and Clover, Cherry Bomb, I Hate Myself For Loving You.
Billy Joel - My boyfriend always laughs when we hear one of his songs on the radio, calling him Billy Hole. LOL I'm a bigger fan of his earlier stuff. Faves: Uptown Girl, Just The Way You Are (always reminds me of being a kid), We Didn't Start the Fire, Allentown, Big Shot, New York State of Mind, She's Got a Way
Elton John - Don't Go Breaking My Heart is absolutely one of my favorite songs ever. Very talented man, and like a few others, his earlier work is my favorite. Other faves: Philadelphia Freedom, Tiny Dancer, Little Jeanie, Your Song, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, Mama Can't Buy You Love, I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues, Rocket Man
Robert John - Sad Eyes
