Reba McIntyre - For a country artist, Reba's not so bad. If I hear her on the radio, I don't immediately change the station like I would other country artists. But I still can't name any songs by her that I like or dislike. The only song I do know, because I was listening to it last weekend is Since I Fell for You, her duet with Natalie Cole on the Rhythm, Country, & Blues CD. They do a great job together on that song. M.C. Hammer - Did a couple songs (probably more), but I can't remember them now. Meatloaf - Had a girlfriend in 1979 who thought Meatloaf was the "bee's knees". Once I heard the album, I was hooked. Power, energy, great lyrics, great vocals, one of my favorite albums ever. I think I remember hearing once that this was the album that knocked Saturday Night Fever out of number one on the album charts. None of his other albums ever measured up to his first one. Favorites: Bat out of Hell, Two out of Three Ain't Bad, Paradise by the Dashboard Lights, Rock & Roll Dreams, I'll do Anything for Love. Melanie - Melanie was cute, but had the obnoxious voice that grated on you after a while. Got real tired of hearing Brand New Key over & over in the Fall of '71. Favorites: Peace Will Come, The Nickel Song Men at Work - One of the few bands I actually liked in the early 80s. Down Under & Dr. Heckyll & Mr. Jive were fun songs and probably my favorites. Wow, I was right about Brand New Key annoying people! LOL!!

We had to put up with your post about Martina yesterday , so now you'll have to bear with me and mine about Reba (although mine about Bette will be longer!): First off, ya spelled her name wrong. McEntire, not McIntire, but that's alright. I forgive you. ;D Moving on...I have been a fan of Reba for as long as I can remember. I was raised on country music, and I loved her from the time I first heard her voice. I abandoned country music when I was about 12. I thought it was "uncool". It happens to all of us. We need to renew our love for country at some point to keep us going, I think. Anyway, when I started listening to country again about a year and a half ago, I automatically went to Reba first. There's just something about her you can't help but love. She's so adorable with that accent of hers, and I've always been a stickler for redheads anyway, so that just makes me love her even more! She's such a wonderful singer, a good strong Christian, and her family is also important to her! Hmm, like Martina! I love her music. Typical country, as some would say, but I don't care...it's Reba!! I remember whenever her band's plane crashed. Wow, what a tragedy. It's amazing how much she's been through. I mean, you couldn't tell it from the way she carries on so beautifully. And her TV show? So, so funny! My third favorite show on TV right now. I watch it every week. Never miss an episode! My favorite character is Kira, the middle child. She's so sarcastic and rude, and I love it. Ha ha. Anyway, this isn't a TV board so I'll save it for somewhere else. Faves - every song on her It's Your Call album, Fancy, The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia, The Fear of Being Alone, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, If You See Him, Forever Love, She Thinks His Name Was John, The Heart Won't Lie, Does He Love You, You Lie, Why Haven't I Heard From You, I'm a Survivor, How Was I to Know, What If, What If It's You...hmmm, that's all I can think of, LOL. And I can't believe you didn't list this as one of your faves, Adam - On My Own, with Martina, Trisha Yearwood, and Linda Davis!!! For shame! Damn, I KNEW I'd spell it wrong if I didn't have a CD in front of me! LOL! Hey, I mentioned the On My Own thing yesterday! All you said about Reba is true! I hope Martina does a guest shot on her show someday! (How cool would THAT be??)

"Talk about sick shows, there's America's Funniest Home Videos. I can't believe my eyes when I see the kind of stuff that wins first prize. Somebody's poor old mom falls down off the roof, lands right on the lawn, face first - on a rake. I hear they got it on the 17th take. Thats as funny as a kick in the crotch, and that's the reason why, uh, I can't watch" ;D ;D **Sorry, got carried away with myself** Anyway, you went shorter on Martina than I would have on Al, or several other artists. As for Reba, I am not a country fan, so I have to pass on that one. Hammer - he had a heart of gold. He did pop rap because he was a preacher, and didn't believe in gangsta rap, but he gave all his money away, and went back to being a preacher. I didn't really like his music, but I respected him, and felt sorry for him when the rap community turned their back on him. My favorite is "2 Legit 2 Quit". When I was at Youngstown State, this was our football team's theme song. We played it in band constantly, and we had a little dance thing for it. We won the national championship that year, and several years after. The coach, Jim Tressel, went on to coach Ohio State to a national Championship and undefeated season, and......."STOP! PRIME TIME! I'm pretty sure I'll be sick if I have to watch another stupid pet trick or that guy with the real flat head that goes woof woof woof and waves his fist in the air. Those weird talk shows about transe*ual nazi eskimoes. They're rude, crude and vile. Just for a minute, let's flip down the dial....FLIP FLIP FLIP..... EWWW!";D ;D**sorry about that - got carried away again** The Loaf - my cousin who watched me when I was little had the 8-track. Didn't like anything on his 90's release, but Bat Out Of Hell is great. Favorites: "All Reved Up, No Place To Go" and "What Ever Happened To Saturday Night? (Hot Patootie)". Melanie - I don't care if she has brand new roller skates...... Men At Work - great group. Favorite: "It's A Mistake" Wasn't Bat Out Of Hell just MADE for 8 Track?? LOL!

Reba McEntyre-My big memory of Reba was her singing at one of the Wrestlemanias about 10-15 years ago (I can't remember which one, I just remember Bobby Heenan's joke about her getting together with Tito Santana and becoming "Arriba McEntyre") M.C. Hammer-For a rap artist, his stuff was tollerable, and he seemed like a genuinely nice guy. It's too bad people took advantage of his generocity, and eventually turned on him.. Meatloaf-I never got into him, but I always respected him as a performer. I hear he is one of the most energenic performers ever! Jim Steinman is one weird dude, hard to believe he's written for Air Supply AND The Sisters Of Mercy! There's diversity!! Melanie-I Love Candles In The Rain, but Brand New Key grates on my nerves. Men At Work-Love 'em! The first two albums were "must have" albums in my 6th grade class. Very few people remember their third album from '85 called "Two Hearts", with it's single "Everything I Need". OMG Pete, I sorta remember that line from Heenan!! He had the BEST lines!! I was so pissed when WCW cut him in an attempt to be hip. What a joke.

Wasn't Bat Out Of Hell just MADE for 8 Track?? LOL! You are so right! Never thought about it. We used to dance on her bed and sing "Paradise by the Dashboard Lights" and the track would shift in the middle of it. We knew when it was coming, so we'd freeze, then resume after it shifted tracks. It just doesn't seem like that long ago.......

Since we're doing all the Country ladies whose last names begin with "M", I'd like to throw in a request: Kathy Mattea. Just whenever you get around to it, if you don't mind. Thanks! Reba McEntire--Just a bit too twangy for my tastes, although she has had a couple of songs that I don't mind listening to. Fancy, Is There Life Out There, and Why Haven't I Heard from You come to mind. I do respect her for sticking to her country roots. I know she's got tons of fans, but I'm just not one of 'em. I do happen to think she's a pretty good actress. Loved her in Tremors! BTW--whenever her band's plane crashed--they were on their way to do a concert in my town. That was big news around here for a long time. What a tragedy that was. MC Hammer--"Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em" was one of the first CD's I ever bought (hangs head in shame). But it was good music at the time! LOL! I always did think he was quite talented. Anyway--I remember when he was a guest on Oprah, and they showed his big ol' mansion, and all his cars that he had. Didn't last long, though. I guess he was generous to a fault, and gave all his money away. Lost the mansion, lost the cars, lost pretty much everything. Sad. Meat Loaf--I remember him from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and of course Bat Out of Hell. I always liked his songs. I saw him in a televised concert once on VH-1, and he really is an awesome live performer! I was impressed! Faves: Two Out of Three Ain't Bad, Paradise... You Took the Words...Read 'Em and Weep, Rock and Roll Dreams Come Through, I'll Do Anything For Love, Objects in the Mirror Are Closer than They Appear. Melanie--I was a big fan of hers when I was a kid. For some reason, she kinda reminded me of Linda Ronstadt. Maybe not singing wise, but looks wise, at least. I guess I'm about the only one here who kinda likes "Brand New Key". LOL! Other faves: What Have They Done to My Song, Ma (LOVE it), Lay Down, Peace Will Come, The Nickel Song, Ring the Living Bell. Men At Work--I have great memories of my husband and I listening to their songs at a local bar we used to go to. Good times.

Wow, you really mean that? I guess you like her more than I though! No, Sat. What I meant was it's all downhill for YOU from here. I do like what I've heard from Martina, but haven't heard nearly enough to make that kind of statement about me.

OMG Pete, I sorta remember that line from Heenan!! He had the BEST lines!! I was so pissed when WCW cut him in an attempt to be hip. What a joke. WCW didn't know what "The Brain" was all about. They totally dropped the ball with him! Heenan and Gorilla Monsoon were the funniest commentator team of all time! (no offense to JR and The King)

Yeah, I mean.. how obnoxious can you get?! In all seriousness ('cause you know I really don't think you were being bad, and besides, it's been a long time since I gave you any crap in these music posts), I love it when someone shares how much they're into a certain group or artist! Reba McEntire - A friend of mine was really into Reba when we were in high school, so she got me hooked on her music. I used to have her Greatest Hits, but haven't been able to find the sucker in years! Anyhow, I like her style. Faves: Fancy, You Lie, How Was I To Know, The Night the Lights Went Out In Georgia (good version) M.C. Hammer - Ohh yeah, had to love those pants.. am I right? LOL He was pretty cool for a while there, but I got tired of his music. No favorites. Meatloaf - Bat Out of Hell is a great album, and Meatloaf is definately one of my favorite artists. He doesn't look "perfect" (which I love), he has a wonderful energy and on-stage presence and that voice of his rocks. When he made a comeback, that was pretty damn sweet. Let's not forget him in the movies, which aren't bad at all! Faves: Two Out of Three Ain't Bad, Paradise By The Dashboard Lights, You Took The Words Right Outta My Mouth, I Would Do Anything For Love Melanie - Brand New Key Men At Work - Down Under, Who Can It Be Now?

[glow=red,2,300]Reba McEntire- one of my favorite country singers. She has a nice voice and is still country-ish when it seems like a lot of singers are doing more crossovers (which I like too). Faves- Fancy, Does He Love You, Till You Love Me.
Hammer- when he first came out when I was younger, I listened to him a lot because he was the in thing. But thinking back on it I never liked him.
Meatloaf- I have never heard any songs by him outside of the song he sung on the Rocky Horror Picture show, so I'm not sure.
Melanie- the only thing I have heard of hers is Brand New Key, and I don't really like it. Haven't heard anything else though.
Men At Work- they're pretty cool.[/glow]

That would be awesome if Martina guested on Reba's show. Hmm...I think an e-mail to the WB's suggestion box is in order!

Reba McIntire - although I don't really like country music, I think Reba is one beautiful lady.
M.C. Hammer - no real comments here.
Meatloaf - Absolutely love Bat out of Hell. From the second album, I like "Life is a Lemon".
Melanie - only ever heard "Brand New Key" and I would rather undergo a root canal with no freezing than listen to that high pitched annoying voice again.
Men at Work - have loved this band since I first heard "Who Can it be Now" back in 1981. I had the tape of "Business as Usual" and recently bought "The Very Best of Men at Work". Faves - almost every tune on the best of album, but I really like "Overkill", "It's a Mistake", "Dr. Hekyll and Mr. Jive" and "B. Good Johnnie".
