WOW, what a lineup today! No less than THREE Hall of Famers! And the other two had a decent amount of hits and their own following as well! Peter, Paul & Mary-Never be in the Rock Hall, but is there a Folk Hall of Fame? They'd be in! Our Timeless Rock station actually plays I Dig Rock-n-Roll Music (same station that plays Zep, Nazareth & Uriah Heep). Legends of the mid 60s folk-rock movement. Faves-I Dig Rock-n-Roll Music, Puff the Magic Dragon, Leaving on a Jet Plane. Pet Shop Boys-I will apologize right now to any fans on here. I don't find ANY redeemable quality about their music or especially their voices. Since when is monatone a good pop sound?? Again, I am sorry, my oldest friend likes them and I always make fun of him. Sad that Dusty sang with them. Faves-none. Tom Petty-Tom is one of the few artists, to my ears, where is music is REALLY timeless. To me you could trade Breakdown or American Girl with one of his late 80s hits, and you couldn't tell it was different. I like Tom, and I bought the box because it was a great deal, and there was SO much left off the GH album. I actually don't find myself listening him that much, probably because he was so played on classic rock radio. Faves-Here Comes My Girl (LOVE it), Waiting For Tonight (LOVE it), The Wild One (Forever), Even the Losers, Yer So Bad. Wilson Pickett-Legend of Soul music. Funny how his signature tune, Midnight Hour, wasn't in his top 5, and didn't even crack the top 20! Come to think of it, neither did his other signature tune, Mustang Sally. His version of Land of 1000 Dances BLOWS Cannibals to Hell. Faves-Land of 1000 Dances, 634-5789, Mustang Sally. Pink Floyd-Legends of psychedelic music. At one time, I considered them my number 3 band. Still like em a lot, but like Ken has pointed out (I believe), classic rock burns their stuff out. Wish Roger and David would kiss and make up. Faves-Pigs (Three Different Ones), Dogs, Take it Back, Have a Cigar, Sheep. And you?

Peter, Paul and Mary - Wow Adam that's is quite a mix - Uriah Heep , Zep AND PP&M . Well like most everybody here I remember hearing Puff when I was very young. Also like Leaving on a Jet Plane and I Dig Rock and Roll Music. Faves - Leaving on a Jet Plane , I Dig Rock and Roll Music and Puff The Magic Dragon. Pet Shop Boys - Well I can't exactly say that I was a fan - I didn't mind West End Girls. I know nothing else. Faves - West End Girls Tom Petty - Can't say enough about Tom - so much great music . I've mentioned before that I had read a bit about him in the late 70's but didn't hear any of his music until Damn The Torpedos came out. He has released just one great song after another . I have a few of his albums on CD (including that amazing box set) and vinyl. Saw him in concert in '92 - awesome show! Faves - There are so many, but if I listed them all I'd be typing all day LOL Breakdown God's Gift To Man Change of Heart American Girl Here Comes My Girl Something in The Air + I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better (Great versions!) Even The Losers You Got Lucky Anything That's Rock and Roll Kings Road Don't Do Me Like That I Won't Back Down I Need To Know A Woman in Love Listen to Her Heart I Can't Fight it The Last DJ Wilson Pickett - I have the 60's best of on vinyl. Classic soul / R+B that's for sure! Faves- Everybody Needs Somebody To Love, Mustang Sally , In The Midnight Hour , Land Of 1000 Dances and Funky Broadway . Pink Floyd - You're correct Adam , I am indeed the one who mentioned that. Even though I listen to them very rarely I tend to listen to the '67 - '71 material, just because it's not played quite as much, although I am hearing it more. I do however think Dave is an excellent player and he even played with Sir Paul Faves - Arnold Layne , See Emily Play , St.Tropez , Fearless , Money and Run like Hell.

Peter Paul & Mary - I wasn't totally immersed in folk music back in the early '60s, so they were never my favorite group. I do have a couple of their albums however, and several 45s. They have a nice clean sound, and were always pleasant to listen to. Faves: Lemon Tree, Don't Think Twice, Blowin' In The Wind, Leaving on A Jet Plane, Stewball, I Dig Rock and Roll Music, Puff The Magic Dragon. D@mn! I listed 7 songs. Maybe I like them more than I think I do. Pet Shop Boys - Only familiar with West End Girls. I find it....well...strange. It's OK, and I have included it on one of two '86-'89 compilations that I made, but it's ...strange. Tom Petty - Never really got in to his music. What I've heard, I like though. Faves: Don't Do Me Like That, Change of Heart, Don't Come Around Here No More... and I REALLY like I Won't Back Down. Also like his work with the Wilburys (naturally). Wilson Pickett - The "Wicked Mr. Pickett" Great '60s soul singer - somewhat underappreciated "in the day" IMO. You're right, Sat, about his "big" hits not making the top 20. I have both Midnight Hour and Mustang Sally included in my "Never Made The Top 20" collection. Other Faves: 634-5789, Land of 1000 Dances (but I like the Cannibal version also), I Found A Love, I'm A Midnight Mover, Don't Let The Green Grass Fool You. Pink Floyd - They're more Classic Rock and I'm more Oldies/Pop Rock, so I never got deep into them either. I do like Another Brick in The Wall and Money, however, and I know I've heard and liked other tracks as well.

Peter, Paul & Mary - There's other folk music that I like better actually. But they were an important band and they deserve the credit. Faves: Leaving On A Jet Plane Pet Shop Boys - I like certain types of electronic and dance music but I've never really been into PSB. I too have a friend that LOVES them and I always scratch my head in wonder at that. I hate that "Opportunities" song with a passion. Faves: West End Girls, I Want A Lover Tom Petty - In my top 25 artists of all time. He's an excellent song writer. I've had the pleasure of seeing him in concert several times and each show has surpassed the last. You're right about his music being timeless and I never get tired of hearing it. Except maybe "Into The Great Wide Open" which is a song that grates on my nerves for some reason. I own the Anthology set which is a nice middle ground between the Greatest Hits and the 6-disc box set. So many faves: Breakdown, You Got Lucky, American Girl, Here Comes My Girl, Refugee, Even The Losers, Don't Do Me Like That, Don't Come Around Here No More, I Won't Back Down, Waiting, Southern Accents, Free Fallin', Waiting For Tonight Wilson Pickett - classic soul voice. I didn't know that about his best known songs not being hits for him. My dad's a big fan. He just bought the 40+ song collection called "A Man & A Half". Have you ever heard Pickett's version of Hey Jude? It's pretty great. Faves: In The Midnight Hour (love the horns!), Mustang Sally, Let Me Be Your Boy, I'm Not Tired, If You Need Me Pink Floyd - I have taken guff for years now about my loathing of this band. I have never liked any of their stuff. I know I'm in the minority but I'm happy to stay over here all by myself.

Peter, Paul & Mary - Definitely one of the premier artists in the folk music genre. Their voices blend together well. I remember 'Puff the Magic Dragon' made me so upset when I was little - I misunderstood the story in the lyrics and thought that the little boy had died. Good song, though. Favorites: A Soalin' (Christmas song), I Dig Rock-n-Roll Music, Puff the Magic Dragon, Lemon Tree, Leaving on a Jet Plane.
Pet Shop Boys - A guilty pleasure of mine! The songs from their first album bring back a lot of memories of my senior prom and graduation. Favorites: West End Girls, In Suburbia, Love Comes Quickly, What Have I Done to Deserve This.
Tom Petty - You're absolutely right about Tom's music being timeless. He's basically stayed with a similar type of sound throughout his career, and it's always worked well for him. I have his greatest hits on cassette, and you are correct - they left off several excellent songs. Favorites: Refugee, Breakdown, Don't Do Me Like That, The Waiting, Change of Heart, You Got Lucky, Mary Jane's Last Dance.
Wilson Pickett - Very talented soul singer. His songs are classics and enjoyable to listen to, although the oldies stations where I live tend to overplay them a little. Favorites: Land of 1000 Dances, Mustang Sally.
Pink Floyd - Wonderful group! Their music has such a complex, sophisticated sound that was years ahead of its time, especially with their early 70's material. The writing is superb also. Favorites: Time (boy, can I ever relate to that song - I even used part of the lyrics in my signature! ;D), Money, Have a Cigar, Sheep, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Another Brick in the Wall, Hey You, Run Like Hell, Us and Them, Welcome to the Machine, One of My Turns.

Decent lineup today! Peter, Paul & Mary--great memories of childhood; always been fascinated by the album title "Peter Paul and Mommy". Throughout high school and college, I didn't listen to them a lot, but now I've gotten to appreciate them once again. And Peter Yarrow co-wrote Ken's all-time fave...Torn between 2 lovers!!! ;D j/k Faves: I dig rock 'n roll music Puff the magic dragon Too much of nothing Blowin' in the wind Leaving on a jet plane Stewball I'm in love with a big blue frog Lemon tree Early morning rain Tell it on the mountain For lovin' me Day is done (There was aq "spiritual thing" going on top 40 radio in the spring '69!) That "zoo" song I think they did the one about the "boa constrictor" too. Never raved over "The hammer song"--sorry guys, Trini's version BLOWS them away! Pet Shop Boys--Boy, if "Interference, AKA =i=" saw this, would she be unhappy! And I've much taken a back seat to her in liking them as well. In fact, I LOVED their synthish music right from the get-go, and kept liking their music much up till around 1995. But amazingly, I have nothing on CD of theirs, and I don't play their music a lot today. Maybe I'll revisit my high school years with them sometime... Faves: It's a sin Always on my mind (BLOWS Willie's version out of the water) West end girls Domino dancing Opportunities So hard Left to my own devices Go west How can you expect to be taken seriously Can you forgive her Suburbia Jealousy What have I done to deserve this (unlike a lot of the populace, I've never greatly warmed up to this) Home and dry (not the Gerry Rafferty tune, I don't think...) Love comes quickly It's alright Was it worth it One more chance DJ culture Where the streets have no name/Can't take my eyes off you I wouldn't normally do this kind of thing New York City boy Heart Rent A man could get arrested It couldn't happen here Paninaro (both 1986 and 1995 versions) Being boring Yesterday when I was mad Violence In the night We all feel better in the dark I want a dog Before Liberation Tom Petty--my fave here today, and been so since about 1996, when I got the "Playback" Box set. So many wonderful tunes, but I tend to play the hits most often. So glad they got in the Hall on their first try. A wonderful rock legend from not too long ago. RIP Howie Epstein. Faves: (not counting the Stevie Nicks duet) Don't do me like that You got lucky I won't back down Refugee The waiting Jammin' me (LOVE the video!) Mary Jane's last dance Free fallin' Don't come around here no more Learning to fly (funny how Petty and Floyd show up here the same day, and they're NOT the same song! It's good to be king You don't know how it feels Waiting for tonight Runnin' down a dream American girl Make it better (LOVE that intro!) Breakdown Here comes my girl I need to know A face in the crowd Even the losers Listen to her heart Yer so bad A woman in love (It's not me) Rebels Something in the air Walls All mixed up The last DJ Change of heart (Easily my least fave of their top 40 hits) Into the great wide open King's highway Runaway trains Have love will travel I'm SURE others... Wilson Pickett--dynamite performer, kind of a "poor man's James Brown". Nothing I'm really crazy over, but decent soul music. Faves: Funky Broadway Don't knock my love 634-5789 (Obviously inspired from a Marvelettes tune "Beechwood 4-5789") She's lookin' good Land of a thousand dances (Starting to wear off from me, sorry Sat, give me Cannibal's version!) Engine #9 Don't let the green grass fool you She's lookin' good Everybody needs somebody to love A few others, but didn't do good remakes of "Hey Jude" and "Born to be wild", and PLEASE make "Midnight hour" and "Mustang Sally" STOP!!!! "Ride, Sally Ride--the first US female astronaut!!!: ;D) Pink Floyd--I really enjoy their "experimental" approach of rock music--it's no wonder Alan Parsons played a hand in engineering some of their work! Played them lots in college, too! And their classic rock radio stuff never wears out on me. And "Dark Side" pretty much has to be at least in my top 5 albums ever, if not....#1? ) Faves: Another brick in the wall (Parts 1 & 2) Money Time Run like hell One of these days Us and them Have a cigar Comfortably numb Speak to me/Breathe Take it back Brain damage/Eclipse Young lust Learning to fly On the run Not now John One slip Wish you were here Any colour you like See Emily play Shine on you crazy diamond Hey you Careful with that axe, Eugene The great gig in the sky Dogs of war High hopes Arnold Layne Keep talking Goodbye cruel world Mother Set the controls for the heart of the sun Astronomy Domaine One of my turns Your possible pasts Is there anybody out there What do you want from me Looks like I may have to check out "Animals" sometime... Can't say too much tonight. I have a headache the size of Texas, so I gotta be brief. Peter Paul & Mary--My favorites on the list today. Love the harmonies, the musicianship, the personalities. Great group. Saw them in concert about 10 years or so ago, and they played for hours. Even when the concert was supposed to be long over, they kept coming back for encore after encore. The audience ate it up! Great concert! Pet Shop Boys--Never liked them much. What Have I Done to Deserve This is an ok song. Tom Petty--I like most of the stuff I've heard from him, but I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to him. His voice gets on my nerves after awhile. Wilson Pickett--Love Mustang Sally. Land of 1000 Dances is a cool song, too. Pink Floyd--Was never into their earlier stuff, but I did enjoy Dark Side of the Moon. Lots of memories of listening to that album in a friend's basement while we were all in an "altered state". ;D Really liked The Wall, too. Good stuff! Ok-that's all I can say for now. See ya!
