Hey Dawn! Two '80s charts in a row. Oh well. I'll be brief. There are only two songs here that I like. My fave is Bruce's Dancing In The Dark. It's one of my faves of all the Boss' tunes, and may crack my top 250 one of these days. The other is Time after Time. Never was a huge fan of Cyndi's but I always liked this one and She-Bop. Jump For My Love and Almost Paradise are so-so, and I'm neutral to Huey's song. That's about it.

10. Really liked the Eliminator album (I have it on CD) The band was on a roll. . A great tune. 9.Still great fun to listen to. 8.This was being played everywhere that summer. 7.I kind of got tired of Girls Just Want to Have Fun - although after all this time it's nice to hear again. It was cool to see her follow it up with a ballad. 6.Remember driving around in my buddy's car with this playing in the cassette player 5.I thought their best track was Hungry Like The Wolf. 4.I didn't mind a few of her songs at the time . Another 80's artist that seems to have disappeared. 3.Heard it lots 2.A big fave from the boss - I also love the B - side Pink Cadillac - bought the 45 when it came out. 1.Was not really a fave (then or now) still can't forget the video of him in that bathtub (ewwwww) LOL

Yay! Great summer memories here! I was on another Europe trip at the time, and heard this very same top 10 on Armed Forces radio on a small southern German hilltop. Not a lot of these actually hold up well still for me, but a great flashback--changing from middle school to high school! Today, I most like 2,4,6,9 and 10.

They're all good, but some of them I don't like as much now as I did then. Cyndi Lauper, Billy Idol, Duran Duran and Laura Branigan had the best songs on this list.
Hard to believe that "Self Control" was by the same person who did "Gloria".

That was the song that really introduced me to Bruce Springsteen's music, and it's definitely among my favorites of his. 'Time After Time' is wonderful.

I remember listening to that cassette often back in the day. You are so right about 'Almost Paradise' being everywhere that summer. It always reminds me of couples skates at the roller rink. Ah, those were the days. I just heard 'Eyes Without a Face' on Nina Blackwood's "Absolutely 80's" show this past Saturday. Another song that brings back a lot of memories!

Hard to believe that "Self Control" was by the same person who did "Gloria". That's a good point about Laura Branigan - her vocals do sound different on the two songs. Those two have always been my favorites of hers.

Heading to the middle school.......
10) Ok. My dad was really in love with this tape, and played it to death. He wore the tape out, so we bought him the CD. 9) Love Huey! However, this is probably my least favorite of his songs. He opened his show 2 summers ago with this song. Heart and Soul (off the same fabulous album) is my favorite. 8) Pass. Wasn't overly fond of the movie, and this song got way old. 7) Good song. It has a good message. 6) My favorite Billy Idol song, and one of my favorites of all time. There are 2 versions - one slightly longer and that is the one I searched for years. Finally found it on his most recent GH release. 5) I've made my feelings on these 5 massively sexy guys known before. I liked the album version of this song better than the single release. I was most disappointed in the video for this song - boring. 4) Not bad. I like it better than some of her other songs. 3) Again, not bad. 2) It's funny. I too love this one but have been told by most of his hardcore fans that this is a lousy song. It's one of the few of his I really enjoy. 1) I agree the video was creepy, but I love this song.

Pretty good list today... Legs--Good song. Saw Tina Turner live in concert back in the 80's sometime, and she did a kickin' version of this song. (Get it--the song is "Legs", and she did a "kickin'" version. Heehee). ;D The Heart of Rock and Roll--Good tune, but somewhat overplayed. Almost Paradise--Nice little love song. Ann and Mike's voices blended well together, I thought. Time After Time--Good song from Cyndi. She was "so unusual", wasn't she? Eyes Without a Face--Love Billy Idol, but never cared much for this song, for some reason. The Reflex--Never liked Duran Duran much, but this song was tolerable. Self Control--Love this one. Wish Laura was still making music. Jump for My Love--The Pointer Sisters were always so energetic and upbeat. I liked 'em a lot. Dancing in the Dark--Great Springsteen tune. One of my faves by him. When Doves Cry--Love the lyrics to this. Excellent song.

I agree with you said about Huey - 'Heart and Soul' is my favorite from Sports as well. Is his most recent greatest hits collection called Vital Idols? I happened upon that at a yard sale about a month ago and didn't get it, and I've been kicking myself ever since. I've never seen the video to 'When Doves Cry', but it sounds really weird!

I agree with you about Ann and Mike. That song seemed tailor-made for their voices. I'd like to pick up a Pointer Sisters greatest hits collection one of these days. I enjoy a lot of their music also!

Best tunes here are Eyes Without a Face (his best) and When Doves Cry (in his top 5).
The rest I am sort of sick of, but I liked em at the time.
Self Control is good.

What a great list of songs! We sang Time After Time in college choir, had a beautiful arrangement. I think that Eyes Without a Face is Billy Idol's best song,so very lovely. I remember Self Control has always been my favorite song Laura Brannigan song. We had a killer arrangement of Heart of Rock and Roll for stage band in college, used it as a great starter piece.
