My Girl--Temptations...the ultimate answer record, as it was written by the same man (Smokey Robinson) who wrote the song it was answering (My Guy)! Oh Neil--Carole King, in response to Neil Sedaka's "Oh Carol"--not a hit at all... Sweet Home Alabama--the greatest answer record, as it put "Mister Neil Young" in his place after "Southern Man" Roll With Me Henry--Etta James...her response to "Work With Me Annie" This Land Is Your Land was written by Woody Guthrie as an answer to Irving Berlin's "God Bless America" and one extra--Shep and the Limelites' "Daddy's Home" was a response to The Heartbeats' "A Thousand Miles Away"; both songs were sung by the same singer, James (Shep) Sheppard.
NOW! Gimme five hits by singer/songwriters that were NOT written by that singer/songwriter (example--"I Got a Name" by Jim Croce).

"I Write the Songs", by Barry Manilow (Bruce Johnston) "Scarborough Fair", by Simon and Garfunkel(Traditional) "Morning Has Broken", by Cat Stevens(Elanor Farjeon) "Amazing Grace", by Judy Collins(John Newton) "Solitaire", by the Carpenters (Neil Sadaka) Give me five songs, not written by the Who, that became theme songs for tv shows, but weren't written specifically for the shows. As Casey Kasem would say, the songs all fall within the Rock-and-Roll era.

(CSI) "Won't Get Fooled Again" (CSI:MIAMI) and "Baba O' Reilly" (CSI:NEW YORK"). However, they weren't written for the shows.
