Janis' one solo top forty hit was Me and Bobby McGee, recorded two years earlier by Roger Miller. Roger Miller worked with the legendary session piano player Hargus "Pig" Robbins who appeared on the Blonde on Blonde album by Bob Dylan.

This whole thing is so dang cool. I guess I could take it from The Yardbirds or Beck. I went with Jeff solo. Jeff Beck recorded a cover of "People Get Ready" with Rod Stewart.

And Peter Asher produced Linda Ronstadt (Damn, you took mine! LOL!) Linda's first hit was as a member of the Stone Poneys with a song written by Mike Nesmith of the Monkees.

The Monkees were an act that was specially developed for television. Prior to this, there was a plan to use an already established group. As Ken pointed out in Adams trivia game, this group was The Lovin Spoonful. (As an aside, I've also seen that The Byrds were also considered.- but stick with The Spoonful)
